When the Lights Go Down

Hello All!!

My roommates and I are currently aboard the Titanic, during its fateful sinking. The musicians are college choirboys, and the ship is our dorm building in a black-out. The emergency lights shine similar to those aboard the ships and many voices are screaming and yelling as they run about. Angry people are storming about searching and the temperature is frigid. The mood is somber…. Or not. That is where the similarities end. Generally everyone is rather worked up, but they are more likely angry that they missed out on the high score of their video game or that the internet crashed (why I’m mildly upset). Most students are taking advantage of this black-out as a break from homework and a time to bond without electronics. Many groups are hanging out and talking in the hallway. Many groups are playing cards and some students are even wearing masks and running the halls celebrating an early Halloween.

40 minutes later…

Jocelyn just told us a story. She told us the story of Clue. It was amazingful. She knew almost exactly what happened. The dialogue, the sound effects, the costumes, and some of the details that I had never noticed while watching the movie. I was much entertained and displeased when the lights came back on. Oh well. One hour of electronic free life was amazing. One free hour of friendly bonding. I was very excited.

That’s all for now folks!!

Sorry it's been a while folks, I've been keeping myself pretty busy. Life here is going well. I've been having a good time here at JC. Overall I'd say that classes are going well. It's mid-term time.
I've already taken two, which went well enough. I've got four more coming up in the next week.

Last weekend was homecoming and we had a guest! My friend Tiffany came back to visit us, and we had a grand 'ole time roaming about Jamestown.

Also... since my roomies and I have a new obsession with bollywood we decided to buy a new poster.

Ta da!! I find it nerdily amazing.

We're starting to meet to plan for my Costa Rica trip this December. I'll let you know when I find out more.

I really can't think of anything else that is new, so I'll let you know when I think of something.

Yin-Yang

Oi!

Hello All!

I've come to tell you about both sides of my awesome life right now. Last weekend was AMAZING! I went home and showed two of my roomies the finer points of my home town. We went to the Twins games where we watched them decimate the tigers. Then we went to an awesome grocery store called CurryUp where we found awesome Indian treats and cheap Bollywood movies. ^_^ It was amazingful. After that we went to an "authentic" Mexican restaurant. It was super good, but not spicy enough to be actual Mexican food. Afterwards I experienced the awesomeness of Bollywood in theatres. Dil Bole Hadippa was an amazing movie and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The other side of me is super stressed out by my collegiate plans in the next few days. I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but I am president of my campus' environmental organization and tomorrow the Vice-President and I have a meeting with the President of our college, the Dean of Students, and a representative of the Student Media Center. So I've been spending a lot of time planning for that. I've also been working on a huge presentation for my Understanding Media class, which I'll luckily get out of the way on Friday. So after those two big things my schedule will hopefully simmer down and return to its slightly more regular level of stress.

Okay that's all I have for now. I'll tell you about what happens in my meeting and presentation.

Week Three!!

Another week has passed for this busy college student. And like the work week, I will be super busy again this weekend. I have an ISO party this evening (International Student Organization) and Pep Band tomorrow (YAY! First of the year!!), and Sunday marks the science club picnic. It should all be good fun. As for the weekly excitement, I think it was fairly minimal.

My friends and I have decided to watch this cheesily amazing show called Glee. I enjoy it immensely, probably because of it's amazing nerdiness. ^_^

ECOS ( Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students-- The organization I'm president of) did their first recycling of the year, which was disgusting yet fun as usual :P

The box office has reopened so i've started working there as well. So I get to practice my awesome phone voice some more. I also have a fool proof hour chunk with which I can accomplish homework... most of the time. Occasionally I may have to do work as well.

I got a thousand packages!!! Okay so maybe only four, but I still think that that's amazing. I got my computer, the free ipod it came with, the adobe creative suite, and my totally nerdy John Green Bobble Head. YAY!! So now I have lots of new and fun toys to play with. I'm hoping to get a good grasp of all of my computer junk this weekend. So I'll be installing my adobe suite tonight, before I download heaps of crazy things to my computer.

I think that's all I have for now.

I'll write again soon!

College Life Cola Style 101

Welcome Back!!

I'm glad to see that you have once again taken time out of your busy schedule to see what craziness is happening in Cola-land. Today I'm going to teach you how to live a day in the life of me.

Step One: Get up early. Not too early, but early enough to go to breakfast at 7:30... every day, except for weekends, when there is no breakfast.

Step Two: Go to work. The Post office is fun, might as well show up... or something. ^_^

Step Three: Go to Classes. Spend the vast majority/ all of your day in the classroom. Break only to eat and/or nap.

Step Four: Go to work again. This time play on the computer/phone at the box office. Never call your friends **Wink Wink** that wouldn't be appropriate, even if you were trying to convince them to buy some tickets.

Step Five: Go to band and make some semi-harmonious noises on the trumpet, while others attempt to do the same. This will be the highlight (cough cough) of your day. ^_^

Step Six: EAT MORE FOOD, this time call it dinner. Spend as much time as humanly possible in the dining hall. Be loud and slightly rowdy... or try not to fall asleep. Depends on the day really.

Step Seven: Try not to procrastinate... and start your homework. Pretend your common sense textbooks are thrilling, Read them.

Step Eight: Whine

Step Nine: Listen to other people whine and complain.

Step Ten: Attempt to socialize with my roomies, because no one else seems to exist at the present time.

Step Eleven: Sleep. This is the REAL highlight of my day... maybe even lifetime. It is a joyous experience that only ends with the repetition of step one. Grumble. Coincidentally step one is my least favorite... hmmm... funny how that works.

I hope that you all have learned a lot! And that next weeks exam over how to live Cola-Style will become much easier for you. ^_^

So anywhoooooooooo... Life here is going well.

What I've been up to:

1) Anything listed above... in mass quantities

2) I bought a new computer!!!! I'm now poor, BUT it will be worth it when I have my shiny new computer to use/ play with.

3) Watching amazing people perform awesome music at Jamestown Idol. It was fun.

4) We went to see an old west shoot-out! It was cheesily amazing, and I wish they happened every weekend. At some point I may attach a photograph of us with the awesome cowboy who attempted to interact with us. ^_^

5) I'm still in the process of finding a job. Wish me luck!

6) Bollywood is amazing. End story.

I'll let you know if anything new happens. Until then. Ta ta!

Welcome

Hello All!!

I feel odd saying this because at the moment the odds of someone actually reading this are slim to none, but that says nothing for the future. I'm struggling with the past tense/present tense debate. Should I talk as though I've already invited you to read this blog (which I have, or you wouldn't be reading this) or should I continue as if I were writing this before? Which I am. Or should I stop trying to confuse you and get to the point.

I am terrible at keeping in touch with people and letting them know what is happening in the life of a Cola, so for that reason I've decided to revamp/ recreate my blog and instead make it some sort of news report on what is happening in the life of Cola. As I am a busy student who does hardly anything other than study, this may be dull, and the postings sparce, but I fully intend to entertain you to the best of my abilities. So I hope that you enjoy my randomness or this won't hardly be entertaining at all. ^_^ Okay so I'm done writing in here for now.

Scratch that. I'm going to tell you a funny-ish story. Once upon a time I just fell off my rolly chair in the middle of a computer lab... I kinda caught myself though... Sorta... Luckily for me there is only one other person here and they are facing the other way with headphones in. So I survived that embarrassment generally unscathed. Huzzah!

So now I really am going to leave you. I hope that you are all having a fantastic day and that reading this causes you no great pain and dare I hope, entertain you slightly.

Talk to you soon!
